In the Pyrénées-Orientales, Jacqueline, 85, walks again on the paths
leading to the Canigou Peak. Through this solitary wander, she
observes, relives and remembers. On her body appear the images of the
past, a time when the ascension of the peak was a family tradition.
She is the witness of a memory that, little by little, seems to infuse
the mountain.

It's about an archaeological expedition from the twenties, on the
tracks of Elephas Falconeri, a dwarf elephant, a real creature which
existed and which borders on the edge of the legendary Cyclops, and,
of which Theodore Kracklite found fossilised skulls in undersea
caverns in Sicily. The Diary of Theodore Kracklite, revisiting a
well-known myth from the Iliad, is a metaphor of the present-day
ecological crisis (the rise in water levels from which the creature
benefitted) and a reminder of the massive extinction of species. |

The FISDN present film series focused on different countries and regions. This section intends to discover and explore different spaces and cultures with the aim to understand the specific regional, political and social circumstances, do reconstruct the emotional and intellectual spécificities of a special region or country. In this critical work we belief it's essencial to prefer films which rufuse, in its form and expression, the retake of sterotype ways of reality restituition, as an act of resistance in the actual period of "globalisation", which inclins to impose one dominating model of culture and habitutes.
