A black liquid, symbol of contamination of unknown origin, emanates from the girl’s body, distorting the morbid sensations into a poetical visionary state. This experimental film shows the dehumanized body of a girl trapped in an enigmatic state, mixing references to the contemporary fears generated by inevitable extinction of humankind with the millenary myth of a biblical flood…

«Drifting» (Dérives) covers the whole spectrum of its different meanings: «To become driven or carried along by a current of water, wind or air» (Webster’s dictionary),as well as a deviation from a norm or a frame of reference. But ironically,in French, «derive» can also mean a fi n for a plane or a center board in a sail boat, both being contraptions whose purpose is to control and prevent drifting. Currents carry away the memories and portraits of my family that history has tossed from one shore of the Mediterranean sea to the other. The wish to remember dialogues with the will to forge, in a pendular movement between moving memory and frozen remembrances, unstable geographies and petrifi ed portraits. In an act of pictorial and abstract exorcism, the movie camera hunts down these family stories which are both talkative and mute, each of them the territory of violence and of the unspoken.

Momentum is a series of dream-like movements exploring calmness amidst chaos. It is an upsetting of equilibrium that holds us in a state of anticipation. In this dialogue-free film, we don’t see characters as individuals, but as part of a whole. Their controlled and uncluttered movements create the film’s tranquil choreography. Some ignore the imminent apocolypse, while others are curious to find a new beginning. Some stand by and observe the world collapsing around them, while others attempt to escape. Amongst the collage of characters, one woman punctuates the film. Outside her window, a group of men stand up to the impossible challenge of the threatening sky and buildings collapse around her, but she continues to pour caramel on a cake, maintaining life’s course.
In English "Momeentum" means "Elan" or "Impulsion". In Latin the sens involve the movement ans passing of time. Here "Momentums" is an apocalyptic quiteness. The film is construced on a serie of images, of phantastic visions about a world which is breaking down slowly.
