Going against his wife's instincts, Noni opens the door to find two aggressive, angry youths on the doorstep who force their way into the couple's home. What follows is the knife-edge drama that unfolds between the four, one which lasts only twenty minutes but which will change all of their lives forever.

Filmed in the historic H-Block Prisons of Northern Ireland, 'Prison Door' gives a Kafkaesque glimpse into the world of a young prisoner struggling with reality and illusion. Just like every other morning, a young prisoner waits for the door of his prison cell to be opened. A bird lands on his window reminding him of freedom. A prison guard opens the door, and the young prisoner has his chance to experience a form of freedom. If he doesn't leave within a few minutes, the door will be closed for the day. This will render him him one step further from the real world, one less open door for him to escape the prison of his mind. The bird watches him decide.

Can ayahuasca, a psychedelic brew of various
plant extracts, have the same
significance for our day as LSD had for
the 1960s. The ‘medicine’ has its roots
in an indigenous Amazon tradition, but
the mind-expanding drink is presently
used all over the world. People prize
the mental vistas that are opened up by
ayahuasca, the ‘vine of the soul’.
The drink is consumed during a (group)
ceremony, often under the guidance of a
shaman. Music enhances the communal
and personal experience, and influences
the mental trip. It is the ritual around it
that contributes to the meaning of the
spiritual experience. There are different
variants of this ritual in different cultu-
res. In this video Bonajo asks how citizens
could influence this ritual. What can we
learn from plants? How can we care for
our society? The video contains personal
stories, recorded in New
York, and devotes special attention to
the feminine voice that traditionally has
been neglected in psychedelic research
and popular culture.
