EDITO
The 10th International Festival Signes de Nuit
October 5 - 16 , 2012
Paris

For the 10th edition of the FISDN we have open a new competitive section for “strange” feature films, we have presented more then 300 films coming from around 50 countries in around 90 programs during 12 days and one night. We found new partners, in Lugarno, Istanbul, Regueb (Tunisia), Krakow and in Paris. In Lugarno we was happy to give a hand to an upcoming festival. Every town of middle size needs a convincing festival, often the only and last place to see high standard cinema. In Rugueb we was proud to collaborate with a pioneer work in undiscovered space, bringing international culture as an invitation for dialog and understanding. In Istanbul we collaborate with a critical and out looking festival, with by itself represents an emerging democratic spirit by over passing taboos concerning the "errors" of the past. In Krakow we was proud to collaborate with such a highly renowned festival of well-known reputation.

Patrick Jolley

We wanted to give salutations to friends a passionate personality. Patrick Jolley films will rest in the memory of international innovative filmmaking. José Escudero was an unconditioned lover of convincing and provocating audiovisual creation and an amazing human being, a good soul, to use an old term. Marcel Mazé is and was the French key figure of defending a "Cinéma de difference”, outfitted with critical spirit, deep humanity, tolerance and humour. We will miss them all. In the section "Un autre regard" (The other view) our intention is to profile outstanding highly specific positions in the international filmmaking scene. With Paul Wright (Great Britain)), Igor and Ivan Buharov (Hungary) and Ashish Avikunthak (India) we are sure to have make the right choice. Others will follow.

D'autres vont suivre.

Tomorrow We opened the festival with a performance-documentary "Tomorrow" by Andrey Gryazev (Russia) about forms of rebellion and resistance inspirited an artistic mind, a key concept for our festival. Metaphorically we closed the festival with a charismatic personality, Adamo Maurizio from Venice, socially engaged, generous and highly sensible for ecologic disasters political corruption. He comes and to the screening and distributes his own wine and food, as he is known for in his hometown. His film about the art to construct a boot is by itself a metaphorical contribution about surviving.

Three international juries with highly qualified members have joined the festival to observe three different competition programs. Some of the film directors came on their own fees to participate lively in the festival.

Take your time and take a look to the programs to understand what had happened. I want to thank all friends, collaborators and supporting institutions, which have been engaged in this extraordinary event.

Some of our films and programs will be broadcast in the local French television "Télé Bocal", a new other way to follow our quite specific programs.

Some other films will start to travel now, and will be screened in one of our worldwide collaboration programs.
