The different worlds in honnor

We present film series focused on different countries and regions. This section intends to discover and explore different spaces and cultures with the aim to understand the specific regional, political and social circumstances, do reconstruct the emotional and intellectual spécificities of a special region or country. In this critical work we belief it's essencial to prefer films which rufuse, in its form and expression, the retake of sterotype ways of reality restituition, as an act of resistance in the actual period of "globalisation", which inclins to impose one dominating model of culture and habitutes. |

Program presented by Paola Starakis
After classic studies at university and a carrier as achaeologist (searches and missions in Greece, Italy, Syria, Egypt), she joins the Greek Ministry of Culture in 1984 and the cabinet of Mélina Mercouri, in preparation of cultural Athens Capitale.
In 1986, she enters in the center of the Greek Cinema and specializes in the translation in French of the scenarios and the dialogues of the Greek movies (among others Théo Angelopoulos's movies ince The Beekeeper until her last opis, remaines unfortunately unfinished, Other sea (2011).
From 1999 till 2012, she manages the Department short film of the Center of the Greek Cinema, assuring the promotion and distribution of short movies about international festivales and the television channels.
