Winter Light is a film from the islands of Lofoten, north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. After weeks of low autumn light, the sun sinks below the horizon and stays there during the depth of winter. But the scarce light has its subtle beauty, as it falls on people's everyday life as well as the unique Arctic landscape. The film is poetic and rhythmic, and has very little dialogue.

White Narcissus |

It is a short film surrounding three personal poems, self-suppression and shame. The film's storyline is ambiguous but still complete, where we follow three kids and their poems, which describe their character in some way or the other. The film carries influences from Media Practitioners such as Ingmar Bergman, Lars von Trier and Edvard Munch. White Narcissus parallels to how the named media practitioners impose emotions, self-reflective methods, and their understanding of the society at that time, in their work. Transmitting manifold of feelings into a short film is difficult; both on how one can convey this into a script, but also on a personal emotional term. The film tries to fulfil the personal statement of anxieties, which is presented on various occasions throughout the piece. The film is also questioning how we as humans tend to appear as okay, though we sometimes feel abandoned, lonely or as an outcast. Personal matters remains unsolved, and individual development resigns as one find it difficult to express one’s inner feelings.

Four men are sitting on a fence and waiting. Is there a desire to break out of their limitations? Is the fence a barrier placed in the way of others? When the sea sweeps over the beach emotional decisions are made, because the beach is where the facts of life, symbolized by the land, meets our feelings, symbolized by the waves in constant motion. A boat in the water builds up to the continuous tension and emotional relationships we had or are about to get.

October 5th to 16th 2012
We present film series focused on 16 different countries and regions. This section intends to discover and explore different spaces and cultures with the aim to understand the specific regional, political and social circumstances, do reconstruct the emotional and intellectual spécificities of a special region or country. In this critical work we belief it's essencial to prefer films which rufuse, in its form and expression, the retake of sterotype ways of reality restituition, as an act of resistance in the actual period of "globalisation", which inclins to impose one dominating model of culture and habitutes.
