A movie about a dramatic life of an orphan. Little boy Philip’s mother dies during famine in winter of 1932-1933. The boy finds shelter in the Orthodox monastery, where ill girl is brought. Philip thinks that she can be cured by the prayer to the St. Panteleymon. He paints an icon of this saint and prays under the windows of the girl’s cell every night. A miracle happens – the girl is cured, but Philip catches cold and dies of pneumonia. Several years after the girl returns to a monastery where she was saved and hears a touching story of her cure.
