Shikasha

+ Infos

Director: Isamu Hirabayachi
Japan
2010 | Digital | 0:10:30

A mother and son are lying tied up in a dark hole, while outside, detectives scour the fields for them. They are buried alive. A dramatic situation is played out on two planes that do not seem to coincide: a breathless search outside, claustrophobic survival inside. The director emphasises this opposition and knows how to unsettle. This latest short by Isamu Hirabayashi, a cult director in this genre, is deliberately enigmatic.
